Production
Here Be Dragons is seeking production interns for the Fall 2016 semester. Though the core of the internship curriculum is rooted in traditional film production skills, participants will gain insight into all facets of VR development, production and post-production and will work cross-department as needed. Daily intern tasks include basic operations needs paired with assisting staff, directors and in-house production teams on virtual reality shoots.
Such responsibilities include:
Assisting with visual research
Assisting with project bidding research
Organizing production assets and content
Runs to various studio rental houses for camera/production needs
Assisting with event and festival prep
Meeting daily operations needs in rotation with other interns (i.e. lunch
pickup/setup/cleanup, meeting room prep) Requirements:
Passion for immersive media and awareness of evolving technologies
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
The ability to follow directions efficiently and be detail-oriented
A “no-task-is-too-small” attitude
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Google Apps
Laptop and excellent work ethic
Sense of humor
This internship provides an intimate perspective into the inner-workings of a major VR production studio. Potential to work on set for interns who prove themselves. As this internship is unpaid, you must be able to require college credit. Lunch and mileage reimbursements provided.

Post Production
Here Be Dragons is seeking a post production intern for the Fall 2016 semester. Though the core of the internship curriculum is rooted in post production workflow, participants will gain insight into all facets of VR development, production and post-production and will work cross-department as needed. Daily intern tasks include basic operations needs paired with assisting the post production team and their workspace.
Such responsibilities include:
Assisting with project ingest, organization, and stitching
Organizing post-production assets
Runs to various post production/VFX houses
Assisting with event and festival prep
Meeting daily operations needs in rotation with other interns (lunch pickup, setup, meeting room prep, office runs, various administrative tasks)
Requirements:
Passion for immersive media and awareness of evolving technologies
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
The ability to follow directions efficiently and be detail-oriented
A “no-task-is-too-small” attitude
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
Experience in Kolor Software, Adobe Creative Suite, Filemaker Pro, and any
alternative VR/AR tech is a major plus.

Engineering
Here Be Dragons is a Virtual Reality storytelling studio. Our work typically exists at the apex of narrative and technological exploration where we encounter creative obstacles and strive for solutions. We’re looking for like-minded individuals with passion and focus for the future of storytelling and tech. This internship is ideal for an engineering student with a general knowledge of and passion for electronics and interests in photography and VR.
Duties
- Design of basic VR camera support systems
- Sourcing appropriate parts based on tests and simulations
- Operation of 3D printers
- Basic electrical design (camera sync cables, power distribution)
Requirements
Any prospective intern must be focused, detail-oriented and able to manage repetitive tasks with enduring accuracy and concentration. Most importantly, he or she must have a willingness to learn and grow, in knowledge and ability. Here Be Dragons is located in Los Angeles, CA; as such you must have access to your own transportation, a valid license and car insurance. A laptop to bring to work is ideal. Any prospective intern should also have a good understanding of one or more of the following:
- Electrical Engineering (electric circuits and components, simulation, PCB design, analog/digital electronics)
- Experience with CNC, laser cutters, 3D printers (FFD)
- Basic Experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD, Eagle
- Basic knowledge of cameras
